Michael J. Murphy
Network Director
Effective September 4, 2016, Michael J. Murphy was appointed as the Network Director for VISN 20. Before becoming Network Director, Mr. Murphy began his tenure as Director of VA Puget Sound Health Care System (HCS) on May 22, 2013. Prior to his arrival in Seattle and Tacoma, he served three years as the Director of the Fargo VA Medical Center.
Mr. Murphy is an experienced senior federal healthcare executive who joined the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in 2006 after serving twenty-seven years as an officer in the United States Air Force (USAF) Medical Service Corps. Other appointments include the Medical Center Director at the Oscar G. Johnson VAMC, Iron Mountain, Michigan and Associate Medical Center Director at the Battle Creek VAMC, Battle Creek, Michigan. His USAF assignments include a variety of healthcare leadership positions in numerous locations around the world.
Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, the VISN (Veterans Integrated Service Network) 20 is part of the Veterans Health Administration nationwide system of hospitals and clinics providing service to veterans. There are 19 VISNs. VISN 20, covers the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) and Alaska.
