USS Frank Cable (AS 40)

Captain Jeff Farah was born and raised in New Jersey. In 1993, he graduated from Steven’s Institute of Technology with High Honors, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering. He later earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

At sea, Farah served on USS Louisiana (SSBN 743 Blue) as a division officer, USS Springfield (SSN 761) as the Engineer Officer, USS Pittsburgh (SSN 720) as the Executive Officer.  He commanded USS Henry M. Jackson (SSBN 730 Gold). Throughout these assignments he completed three overseas deployments and six strategic deterrent patrols. During his command tour, his crew was awarded the Commander, Pacific Fleet Retention Excellence Award for 2012.

Farah also served as an instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command; Shift Engineer at Nuclear Propulsion Training Unit Charleston; Submarine Squadron 4, Material Officer, and a staff tour at Commander, Pacific Fleet Submarine Force, where he served as a Tactical Readiness Evaluation Team senior member and then as Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Operations.

Captain Farah’s assumed command of USS Frank Cable (AS 40) May 22, 2017.

Farah has been awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.
