February President’s Update

The February meeting will be on February 13 at the Old Spaghetti Factory and will be  our annual Valentine’s Day Dinner.  Socializing will start at 6:30 and dinner will be at 7PM.  Cost will be $25 per person.  As this is an evening gathering, we hope to have as many of our working alumni (those that cannot make the luncheons) and our Parents club members present.  Please include spouse/significant other.  There will be some time for all of you to be able to talk a bit about your favorite Valentine.

Our March meeting will be a luncheon at 11:30 on March 13 at the Old Spaghetti Factory.  We are planning on having a senior rep from the VA Hospital to speak to us, so plan on coming.

We are starting to plan for next year’s August Chapter picnic.  If anyone has any ideas or would like to assist in the planning and execution, please let me know.  We are tentatively planning on having it at the same location as this year (Washougal WA.).  The Picnic will be August 3 in the afternoon.

Our next Council meeting will be on April 6 at 1000 AM at the offices of Doug Bomarito.  All alumni are welcome to attend.  We are looking for some alumni to step up to be council members, particularly those younger folks (those who are still looking forward to their 40th reunion).  If interested, please plan on coming and see what it is we do. The commitment is not huge, but it does give you the ability to give back to the organization and to vote your input on current and future Chapter activities.  Past council members and past presidents are allowed to rejoin.

Remember, Chapter Challenge Coins can be the perfect Christmas gift.  See Frank Swientek.

We are still in need of a chapter Secretary.

January President’s Update

Happy New Year to all.  This will be the year of the Football turnaround.

The January meeting will be 11:30 at the Old Spaghetti Factory on January 9thth.  At this meeting Doug Ballard and I will present the USNA Foundation and Alumni Association fundraising campaign “Called to Serve Dare to Lead”.  The Campaign is targeting to raise $50M over the next 2 years. ($350M has already been raised through the “Deep Pockets” alumni.  While I am always skeptical of fundraising at colleges, after seeing what the foundation is doing to enhance significantly the education and training of midshipmen, I am excited and supportive of the effort.  Hopefully you all will join and support Doug and me on this.

Our February meeting will be our Valentine’s Dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory on February 13.  Many of you cannot make the weekday luncheons so this is a wonderful opportunity to have a night out with your spouse/significant other and alumni.

We are starting to plan for the Chapter picnic, August 3rd.  If anyone has any ideas or would like to assist in the planning and execution, please let me know.  We are tentatively planning on having it at the same location as this year.

As we enter the new year, we are looking for alumni to consider joining the council.  The commitment is not huge, but it does give you the ability to give back to the organization and to provide input for current and future activities.  Past council members and past presidents are allowed to rejoin.

We are still in need of a chapter Secretary.
